ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) POLICY

Annals of Education recognizes the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in academic research and scholarly publishing. The journal supports the responsible and transparent use of such tools while maintaining academic integrity, originality, transparency, and accountability.

Permitted Use of AI

Authors may use AI-assisted tools for appropriate purposes such as language improvement, grammar correction, translation, formatting, and assistance with organizing or refining text, provided that the use of such tools does not compromise the originality or integrity of the research.

Author Responsibility

AI tools cannot be listed as authors or contributors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical standards of their submitted manuscript, including any content generated or modified with the assistance of AI.

Authors should carefully verify AI-assisted content for factual accuracy, potential bias, inappropriate citations, and unintended duplication.

Disclosure of AI Use

Where AI tools have been used substantially in the preparation of a manuscript, authors should provide an appropriate disclosure describing the tool used and its purpose. Routine spelling, grammar, or formatting assistance may not require detailed disclosure unless otherwise requested by the journal.

AI-Generated Content

Authors must not submit AI-generated material as their own original work without appropriate review, verification, and disclosure. Fabricated information, inaccurate references, misleading statements, or manipulated content produced through AI tools remain the responsibility of the authors.

Use of AI in Peer Review and Editorial Work

Reviewers and editors must maintain confidentiality when handling manuscripts and should not upload confidential or unpublished manuscript content to external AI tools where doing so could compromise confidentiality or intellectual property rights.

AI tools should not replace the independent professional judgment of reviewers or editors in evaluating manuscripts and making editorial decisions.

Academic Integrity

The use of AI must not be used to facilitate plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, manipulation of research findings, authorship misrepresentation, or other forms of academic misconduct.
