PEER REVIEW POLICY
Annals of Education is committed to maintaining a rigorous, fair, transparent, and ethical peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic integrity of published research. Peer review is an essential part of the journal's editorial process and helps maintain high scholarly standards.
Purpose of Peer Review
The peer-review process is designed to evaluate the originality, academic quality, methodological soundness, relevance, clarity, and overall contribution of submitted manuscripts to the field of education.
Initial Editorial Assessment
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine whether they are suitable for the journal's scope and meet basic submission and academic requirements. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's standards or scope may be declined before external peer review.
Reviewer Selection
Manuscripts considered suitable for review are assigned to qualified and experienced reviewers with relevant subject expertise. Reviewers are selected based on their academic knowledge, research experience, and ability to provide an objective and constructive assessment.
Confidentiality
The peer-review process is conducted with appropriate confidentiality. Reviewers must not disclose manuscript content, author information, review reports, or other confidential information obtained during the review process.
Objective and Constructive Evaluation
Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts objectively and professionally. Reviews should focus on the scholarly quality and content of the manuscript and should provide constructive comments that can assist authors in improving their work.
Conflict of Interest
Reviewers must disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest that may affect their impartiality. A reviewer should decline the assignment when personal, professional, institutional, financial, or other interests could compromise objective evaluation.
Review Criteria
Reviewers may consider the following aspects when evaluating a manuscript:
- Originality and significance of the research
- Relevance to the journal's aims and scope
- Clarity of objectives and research questions
- Methodological quality and appropriateness
- Accuracy and presentation of results
- Quality of discussion and interpretation
- Adequacy of references and scholarly context
- Overall academic contribution
- Ethical compliance and research integrity
Editorial Decisions
Based on the reviewers' recommendations and the Editor-in-Chief's or Editorial Board's assessment, a manuscript may be accepted, accepted subject to revision, returned for major revision, or rejected. A final editorial decision is not based solely on a single reviewer's recommendation.
Revision and Resubmission
When revisions are requested, authors are expected to respond carefully to reviewer comments and submit a revised manuscript within the specified timeframe. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when appropriate.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers are expected to complete assignments within the agreed timeframe, maintain confidentiality, provide unbiased and evidence-based assessments, identify relevant scholarly issues, and notify the editorial team of any concerns regarding plagiarism, duplicate publication, ethical issues, or potential misconduct.
Final Editorial Authority
The Editor-in-Chief and/or authorized editorial team retains final responsibility for publication decisions. The journal reserves the right to seek additional reviews or opinions whenever necessary to ensure a fair and well-informed editorial decision.
Commitment to Fairness and Integrity
Annals of Education is committed to conducting peer review with fairness, confidentiality, independence, transparency, and academic integrity. The journal strives to ensure that every manuscript is evaluated according to its scholarly merit, irrespective of the author's personal, institutional, geographical, or professional background.
